just to tell u, shaq was just as igonrant as kobe. for sure. dont u think shaq is all perfect cause he has toe injuries and misses great games that are costly. just look at it, if shaq wasnt injured early in the season, maimi might have had home court over dallas, which there probably ganna win the west. besides that fat man is old and declining greatly and lakers have young players and kg is even considering to playing there, even sam cassel. man doesnt it sukk to be the lakers.

I love this one here:

"if shaq wasnt injured early in the season, maimi might have had home court over dallas"

OK, so Kobe lovers spend all this time arguing that Shaq is old and that it's D-Wade that carries the team by himself. Now you admit what we've been saying all along - Shaq makes the difference. But now you blame Shaq for being hurt? Honestly, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Amare Stoudamire, damn you, the Suns would've had home court advantage and won if you hadn't gotten hurt. And Larry Hughes, man, you suck, how dare you break that finger, and how dare you miss 2 games because your brother died. Oh, and Hideki Matsui, if the Yankees don't win the World Series this year, it's ALL YOUR FAULT.

Kobe was Shaq's sidekick. Just like Pippen was Jordan's sidekick. Kobe is a more talented sidekick, but Pippen was a more intelligent player because he knew his place, which meant that he didn't cost the team so many games by taking dumb shots (Kobe does that al the time).

Kobe should beg Shaq to come back, Chris Mingh aint gonna cut it.

when you could have had the best dominant player, playing in the best dominant team and being the best duo. heats have no history. y is shaq averaging less points? because shaq ising playing the triangle offense. he had to switch to van gundys and then to rileys.

by the way asorto, y the hell do u post about kobe's life outside the court. he may lie once in a while, but u may too. u dont know how to act when u have a situation like that. this is about kobe playing 1 on 5 like u say it, then act like it. damn

have u been watching t.v lately about the bull. pippen wanted to be just like jordan, wanted the attention just like him. obvious that he knew that he couldnt be like him. he sucked it up like a man. kobe wanted to prove that hes nobody's sidekick and it costed him. and they took off from there.

Shaq doesn't make the difference. It is the team around him that makes the difference. If you keep insisting the Shaq makes the difference then it is Shaq himself with his increasing weight with the Lakers and not getting into shape. Once he was in Miami he finally decided that he must get into shape and loose the pounds. Shaq himself had said after winning in LA that it was Coach Phil that made him into a champion and that before he was just a good player, but winning titles made him a great player. Shaq also said that winning a title was just the beginning and that it didn't matter what team he would be on and he said this after winning against the 76ers. You guys talk about being selfish and doing what is best for the team. Shaq is the true selfish one because didn't care about the Lakers anymore and wanted out. He threw that at the face of the Lakers fans. Many people have said that Shaq was the one responsible for bringing Malone and Payton to the Lakers, but Lakers were doomed by Malone(injured) and Payton( a no show) in the 2004 finals. I know that every Kobe hater will say that Kobe was taking bad shots and all that garbage, but no one stepped up to help Shaq and Kobe and Kobe was just trying to fill the gap. No one other than Shaq and Kobe averaged double figures throughout the 5 game series. Game 5 Slava had 10 points at half time, zero the rest of the game and DFish finished with 10 pts. Even Shaq's numbers were 10 points less and 5 rebounds less than the 3 peat success. Kobe was steading up his averages through each finals appearance. All you Kobe haters think you know but you don't know. All Kobe ever wanted and still wants is to win titles for the LA Lakers and not some other team like Shaq. You guys must rally behind the best player in the NBA right now whether you hate him personally and get behind the franchise to go out and get the right players to play with Kobe, especially if you are a Lakers fan.

We'll since you have league pass then you would've saw all the passes that were fumbled and butchered by Kwame and Mihm. All the passes that Kobe passed to an open Smush, Sasha, etc. only to see them miss or pass it back to Kobe with the 24 sec. clock winding down. You also must have seen Lamar not fouling Marion and no, this is not the players Kobe wanted. He is not the one making the draft choices or selecting street ballers. I agree that Mitch should be fired. He is responsible for putting the players around Kobe.

11:51 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

hmm, since you have watched the same Lakers games that the rest of the country has seen, then I'm sure you saw all the 1 on 5s that Dobe does, or all those 30 footers that he likes to shoot with the Lakers are only down by 1 point (thus, they only need a lay-up/2 points), or you got to see all those "passes" that Dobe gives his "teamates" when he's trapped (so he passes when he has to), or you might have seen Dobe routinely go 9 out 33 (and then people wonder why the rest of the players are cold), or you might have seen Dobe pass to players with 3 seconds left so they have to take a bad shot. Since I'm sure you know a little about basketball, then no doubt you noticed all those things.

Oh, and as far as the Minh, Kwame, etc, hmm, I believe Dobe made his bed, now he has to sleep on it. What players did he have before? Shaq, Payton, etc (that was an even trade, Shaq for Minh, NOT). Yes, Shaq demanded a trade, but the question is why? and obviously, he wasn't washed-out b/c being in the finals of East(like the Heat is) sure beats not making the playoffs, or being in the NBA finals. Now Dobe will waste the best years of his life being the man, but running an average teams, I guess that's better than being a sidekick but winning rings, NOT. :-)

and he doesnt take those shots anymore. he was averaging over 50percent in twos and threes. so shut up about his shots. cause those arent taking bad shots. smush couldnt do crap and so cant kwame the butterfingers man.

by the way the dobe thing is stupid.

1:12 AM

"Yes, Shaq demanded a trade, but the question is why?"

Congrats! You finally get it. Shaq does everything for himself no matter what team he would be on. He left Orlando as a free agent only to sign with LA so he can be in movies, rap videos and be the CENTER of attraction. He knew at the time that the Lakers at that time didn't have a good team and didn't care that he was leaving a decent team in Orlando. Did he leave for a better team in LA? No, he left for the money and fame. Shaq is an opportunist and doesn't care about anyone else but himself. The one thing I don't like about Shaq is that he is not self-motivated to a higher cause (i.e. the team) unless it benefits himself first. Sure he likes to win and he is the one, but lose and it is the coaches fault, he didn't get the ball enough, or its the refs calling fouls on him. He is the one who throws his own teammates under the bus. Remember when DFish hit that .4 agianst the Spurs, first thing Shaq said, "one lucky shot deserves another." instead of giving props to DFish just for shooting and making the basket, he was self serving about Tim Duncun just flat out shooting above him and making a terrific shot in his face to take the lead. Kobe on the other hand said, "I am happy for (DFish). It couldn't happen to a better person." You just watch when the Mavs win Shaq will say something like 'we weren't focused.' If the Heat win Shaq will say something like 'I told you "I" can still win'
Shaq is the reason he was traded and no one else.

11:10 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

You also made my point about Shaq's quote. He was busting on Duncun because Shaq was embarrased that Duncun was able to make that shot right through Shaq and Shaq could not give props to his own teammate who just won the game. Everyone else including the Spurs gave DFish respect for his .4 shot.

Oh boy do you have it backwards. It was Jerry Buss that had it with Shaq. For what ever reason you believe Shaq wanted to leave, Jerry Buss had the same reason to get rid of him. Also, I will add that the reason wasn't about his skill or lack there of, but about Shaq's sorry ass attitude toward those around the Lakers and Lakers management. I will venture to say that at least Jerry Buss made it possible to trade him to Miami soley to help Pat Riley who was, and on some level still is, a Laker and a good friend . I am quite sure that Jerry Buss is happy for Pat Riley for making it to the finals.

12:14 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Man are you way over your head. Everything came together at the same time. Shaq and Kobe not getting along, losing the finals, Kobe's free agency, Phill's last year of his contract. Then Shaq's trade me demand. Which if you believe was because of Mitch, it was because of Shaq's own doing. You may believe that all of a sudden Shaq would do anything to stay with the Lakers, well it was too late to try to make it up to Jerry Buss. Buss can only take so much of Shaq's BS. Buss offered Shaq an extension and Shaq didn't want it. Buss then could only offer Kobe the max. deal or Kobe was free to sign with some other team. Phill was not offered a contract period. What to do? You start all over and the Lakers for better or worse decided to start all over. BTW-it was Pat Riley who personally met with Jerry Buss to discuss the possibility of trading for Shaq and the rest is history. It was to get rid of the Big Headache. This is not all Kobe's doing. This goes way beyond winning a championship right now for the Lakers. The Lakers weren't going to win a championship if they kept Shaq and let Kobe go. They would make the playoffs but no finals. If you can't understand this, then its all on you.

i bet u guys dont even know why u guys hate kobe. its because it was kobe that was chosen by the media to be blamed. shaq had a problem with him, and mitch chose the younger guy. so now u blame kobe for mitch trading him? u make no sense. and you the hell do u know kobe told mitch and jerry to trade him. u have no idea what happened.

ask urself, i hate kobe because hes a ball hog and he doesnt take smart shots. vince carter is just like u. he ridiculed kobe by saying that the 81 point game was bad because the kids might think they must do it too and take many shots and ignore the team concept. last year, vince shot a lower percentage shot then him and both shot 20 a game. actually, vince shot 20.0 a game while kobe shot 20.1 a game if it makes u feel happy. so obviously, envy is the answer.

the guy quits on his team. yeah maybe he did, but didnt u know that tracy and vince did the same exact thing? both did it for the whole year. yea yea u probably thinkin i could care less about them. see there it is, thats all thats needed to prove to you that ur a sucker for a media. you could care less about them but there just as a quitter as him. so y dont u hate them as well? exatly u dont care because media says hes a bad guy and portrays the others as good.

get ur facts right. u hate him cause hes a ball hog, allen shot more him lower percentage so hate him as well, cause ur saying u hate a player for selfishness.

he quits on his team. again, look at the real quitters who quit on the season while their team was stinkin. so hate them cause u say u hate a player for being a quitter.

there u go. proved u that u just go with the news. u should start looking up the facts sometimes buddy.

Dude, your love for Dobe blinds your better judgement. Oh, and by the way, Shaq declined a much bigger contract from Orlando just to play for the Lakers, something that Dobe could not do, not even for a ring.

If Buzz was so sick of Shaq's "BS", then why would he offer him an extension? Normally when an owner gets sick of a player, the player gets traded, end of story. That's exactly the case with Chris Webber for smoking weed when he was with the Bullets, Ron Artest got traded etc etc.

Shaq demaned a trade b/c A.) He didn't get the long term contract that he demanded, and B.) B/c sorry-ass Dobe manipulated the Lakers into getting rid of Shaq and not resigning Phill. Think about this, if Buzz felt that Jackson was not worth resigning, then why would he bring him back once Dobe was under contract?

I can understand that Buzzzz wanted to go with the younger guy, and specially if the younger guy needs encouragement to sign. But again, Buzzzzz was completely wrong. No matter what you say, Dobe led the Lakers to the NBA lottery, and he QUIT on his team just to make a stupid point on an elimination game. That's fact, any true Laker fan would be pissed-off about that. And to add insult to injury, Shaq is in the finals with the Heat. Even Jackson demanded that Dobe be traded. Those are real facts, go look them up. If you can't understand simple facts, then obviously there's no point in the showing you the way.

To the guy who thinks that the media shapes our opinions, are you on crack dude? my opinion is based on what I've seen the Lakers become after Shaq left, and my opinion is also based on seeing Dobe constantly play 1 on 5 ball, or blame the "game plan", or jack-up 30 footers when there are 10 seconds left in the game, and you only need 1 point to win, etc etc etc.

Initially, the media try to kiss Dobe's ass (specially NBC) by making him to be the next Jordan, eventhough Dobe kept screwing up like the time he jacked-up 4 (yes 4) airballs from 30feet-land against an elimination game against the Jazz. That's why I hate Dobe.

You "dare me to post" on some Lakers blog? dude, the question is, what are you doing in a Kobe Haters blog? (if I hate classical music, then obvously I wont go to a classical musci oncert). Unless, of course, you see Dobe is as your Lord/God/Idol that you have to come and defend his honor, or lack thereof.

As far as the other ball hogs in the league, we don't dedicate a blog to them b/c they are not the ones that have brought the Lakers to being a mediocre team.

I will leave you with a nice quote from an article found on Wikipedia

"Aftermath and image problems
Kobe Bryant had always received an abundance of criticism regarding his play on the basketball court. Detractors have long branded him as a selfish, egotistic player who pads his own achievements at the expense of his team. However, one factor which had helped to uphold a generally positive public image even despite such criticism had been the public's perception of him as "squeaky-clean" with regard to his moral behaviors. The public had become accustomed to tales of high-profile professional athletes indulging gratuitously in a wild nightlife rife with alcohol, drugs and/or sexual promiscuity. But Bryant had a reputation as one who eschewed such behaviors, preferring to keep quietly to himself, even to the point of his being criticized for not socializing enough with his teammates. The events surrounding the alleged sexual assault changed that dynamic drastically. At best, he was guilty of the adultery to which he had confessed. And when the police transcript of his interview with investigators later became public, it revealed that Bryant had further confessed to investigators that his adultery with Faber was not an isolated incident. He had acknowledged that unbeknownst to his wife, he had been maintaining an on-going affair with another woman in New York.[7] But still worse was the fact that despite the lack of a criminal conviction, many people believed him to be guilty of rape.

Bryant previously had a positive moral image but, with his image so badly tarnished, the public's perception of Bryant plummeted, and his endorsement contracts with McDonald's, Nutella, and Ferrero SpA were terminated. His ball play was also viewed more critically. Sales figures from NBA merchandisers indicated that sales of replicas of Bryant's jersey fell far off of their previous highs.

Furthering the blemish upon Bryant's reputation was the public rift through the Laker core of Bryant, O'Neal, and coach Phil Jackson. In well-documented episodes throughout their careers together on the Lakers, mainly over leadership of the team, O'Neal and Bryant have feuded in dramatic fashion. The 2000-era Lakers were built around the dominant center in O'Neal but Bryant seemed to tire of his formal role as "second fiddle" on the team. Though there were periods when the two seemed to get along very well, during the rougher times, O'Neal would not be shy about launching criticisms toward teammates, usually without explicitly mentioning names, but with details that left no doubt he was referring primarily to Bryant. Bryant only responded publicly on one occasion, in an interview with Jim Gray of ESPN, where he called O'Neal "fat" and bristled at O'Neal's previous characterizations of their relationship as "big brother" and "little brother."

The sexual assault allegations ultimately led to one of the largest blows to the relationship between Bryant and O'Neal, as well as serious damage to Bryant's personal reputation among other NBA players. According to a supplemental report added to the original transcript, when questioned by the police during their investigation, in an apparent attempt to deflect questioning, Bryant had brought up alleged extramarital affairs by O'Neal. [8] If Bryant made such a comment, it likely meant that in order to extricate himself from his own situation, he had either made false allegations of adultery against O'Neal, or, even if the allegations were true, had betrayed O'Neal's confidence in that matter to investigators. Either explanation served only to further sully Bryant's image.

Other conflicts have also done their share of damage to Bryant's image. In addition to his problems with O'Neal, Bryant feuded with other teammates during his career. In an isolated incident, he allegedly punched then teammate Samaki Walker in the face outside of the team bus. In 2004, a dispute between Bryant and former teammate Karl Malone became public prior to Malone's expected re-signing with the Lakers. Bryant claimed Malone had made inappropriate comments to Bryant's wife. Malone claimed the comments were in jest and that Bryant was overreacting. In the subsequent months, rather than re-join Bryant and the Lakers, Malone turned his attention to the possibility of joining another team, but ultimately decided to retire. More recently, there have been rumors of Bryant clashing with teammate Lamar Odom which both have denied and attribute to media rumors.

Phoenix Suns guard Raja Bell clotheslines Bryant during a 2006 playoff game. The incident sparked a brief feud between the two players.Bryant also clashed with coach Jackson. While remarkably efficient in Jackson's "triangle offense", Bryant had a personaldistaste for Jackson's brand of basketball and subsequently called it "boring." In games, Bryant would often disregard the set offense completely to experiment with his own one-on-one moves, incensing the normally calm Jackson. Bryant managed to test Jackson's patience enough that the "Zen Master" even demanded that Bryant be traded, although Laker management rejected the request.

[edit]
The end of the Trifecta
Jackson's coaching contract expired following the 2003–04 season and the Lakers failed to produce a championship despite sporting four Hall of Fame-caliber players: Karl Malone, Gary Payton, O'Neal, and Bryant. Bryant opted out of his contract and became free agent, thus having the ability to choose to leave for another team if he desired. Amid that atmosphere, Jackson was not invited back to coach the team. Many fans attribu

yeah sure when he scores 5 points. when in 04 they were 1-1 in finals and this year, a big fat donut.

Man, you talk about the guy like you either know him or you stalk him. He goes to church every Sunday? He has turned to God? Where do you get this stuff from?

And even he did "turn to God," what difference does that make? All sorts of criminals go to church every Sunday and confess their sins as well. Plus, what he does on the basketball court and what he says during interviews shows that he's not a "changed man" by any standards - religious or not. On the contrary, he becomes more arrogant and unrepentant each year.

So don't be bringing religion into this, that's completely ridiculous.

Plus, keep in mind that Kobe has been consciously doing a lot to improve his image over the past year or so. All the things he does - i.e. joining the Olympic team, hanging out with a kid from New Orleans - are publicity stunts. You can see right through that.

And, where do you get off calling us cowards? As far as I know, we've always both posted under our names. That's why we have them. You, whoever you are, have posted like a 1000 comments, but are too much of a coward to get a name. (And don't BS about "everyone is anon." It takes exactly 15 seconds to create a member name.)

Kobe 62, Dallas 61 after 3 periods. Shaq 5 points and sits out the 4th period. I know you Kobe haters will say that Kobe did it in a "meaningless game" and Shaq is in the finals, but that is my whole point. Shaq "is" in the finals and can't even muster a decent game. He can't even be man enough to face the media afterwards. What a coward! What happen? Did Dwyane cut his tongue?

Blogger TeamPlayer said...

Sure, but do these people actually know Kobe and hang out with him? I used to live in NY, work in SoHo and see celebrities around every weekend - doesn't mean I actually know anything about them b/c I see them at a Starbucks or some store all the time. Plus, like I said, it's your actions that define who you are, not showing your face in church on Sundays.

And no, not all the nice things that people do are stunts. It's only when a celebrity whose image is under attack suddenly starts doing a bunch of nice things that he never did before that it's obviously that those things are done for publicity reasons.

And no, I've never posted anon. Why would I? It's not like I need to hide my views. And you're quite deluded to assume that there aren't people who read and write on this blog who are Kobe haters. After all, it's not like I invented the term.

Dobe and church? nice. Regardless of whether he's doing if for the right reasons, or just as a PR stunt it does not change a thing. Dobe is Dobe (i.e. the king of 1 on 5, the guy who led the Lakers to the lottery, the guy who tried to involve Shaq when he was being questioned about his rape case, the guy who thinks he's giving his teammates a chance to get rebounds whenever he goes 9 out 33, etc etc etc). Dobe can go to church all he wants, and it is not going to chance a thing.

Shaq doesn't need to change his image, he's not the one that has all that baggage. And honestly, I can't help to wonder if Dobe is pretending to go to church just to fool those that are easily fooled. He magically decides that he wants to be in the olympic team after all these years, he freaking associates himself with the kid from New Orleans, he pretends he plays teamball just to use that as an excuse whenever they lose.

Why am I not surprised that some of you Dobe's Lovers are focusing on Dobe scoring 81 points in the regular season and Shaq scoring 5 in game 2 of the finals? that's exactly what I would expect from someone that doesn't understand that individual accomplishments don't count in a TEAM sport. Individual accomplisments count in sports like Tennis, golf, etc etc.

The reality is that Dobe is not in the finals, and he had led the Lakers into being a mediocre team. You can not deny that b/c it's a fact. So I gues you focus on Dobe's individual accomplishments to fool yourself into thinking that his little accomplishments means that Lakers are in the finals, or that they made the Western Finals. Get real!!

Take your hand out of the sand, there are plenty of people that have posted on this blog that hate Dobe, and they've posted as "Anonymous". As Teamplayer correctly put it, be a man/woman and at least develop a member name.

It's interesting how Dobe's Lovers keep coming back to defend their idol. I love it.

But heck, he's a "changed man" by going to church, I seriously doubt that. PR baby, PR all the way. He could get a volunteer job at the Salvation Army, and yet alot of people would think that it's all PR b/c of his fake comments and his actions. Go google his name and search for articles that talk about how Dobe always says the right things, but means otherwise.

WE HEAR ... that after basketball legend and businessman Earvin "Magic" Johnson finished a keynote speech at the official launch party for Embarq at the Orleans Arena, the Laker Hall of Famer wasn't shy about taking shots at former Laker teammates Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

"I'm sure the first question will be (about) why Kobe can't pass, and I can't answer that. I'm trying to teach him that," said Johnson, now part-owner of the team, to the audience. "The second question will be, 'Do you know what happened between Kobe and Shaq?'" He answered that one: "Shaq was making $18 million a year and Kobe was making $11 million and they were fighting about whose team it was. If I gave you $11 million, how many people here would worry about whose team it was?"

And, he cares about winning more than being "the star." BUT, I never hesitated in criticizing Shaq when he played for the Lakers, just like I don't hesitate to criticize any player when he deserves it.

You, on the other hand, are a Kobe bandwaggon rider. He could run the Lakers into the ground for the next 5 years, and you'd still find excuses for him.

If you say that you will be critical of any Laker player, then why don't aren't you critical of Lamar Odom when he has his arms straight up as if he is gaurding a two point layup by Marion instead of laying his arms around Marion for a take-out-of-bounds-foul with seconds to go in the game. Kobe didn't ask for these players. That falls on Mitch. I said to all my friends that if they trade Shmuq, they better get Shywane because he's a baller. It seems I even knew better than Mitch and I am just a Lakers fan. I am critical of all Lakers when it is due and I am not critical just to be a Shmuq A$$kisser.

First, once again, there is no "we," it's just "you."

Second, we don't "hate" T-Mac and Vince b/c 1) we don't care about Orlando and the Raptors, and 2) those guys didn't quit in Game 7 of the playoffs, they just wanted to be traded.

And third, sure, there are all these people who cheer for Kobe in LA. Would you buy insanely priced tickets to boo the guy? Plus, a good number of these people are band-waggon riding celebrities who just like the Lakers b/c it's the "in" thing to do. What really shows how people feel about Kobe is how he gets booed and jeered at almost every away game. You will not find any other player in the NBA who gets booed as much as Kobe does. Interestingly enough, no one boos Shaq in LA. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

you can deny all you want the fact that Dobe wanted to get rid of Shaq and Phill so Dobe could be "Da Man". You're wrong, but you can deny it. You can't deny that Dobe is the King of 1 on 5 (even the LA media agrees with us), that he jacks up dumb-ass 30 footers (again, the media agreed with us by reporting that Dobe stopped playing "Kobe Ball" and he started playing Teamball), you can't deny that the Lakers went from being in the finals to being in the lottery. Those are cold hard facts, you can keep posting here all you want, and it's still not gonna change those facts.

And by the way, I personally could care less if Dobe fans post here. In fact, I LOVE IT!!!! We don't post to get love letters, we post to highlight Dobe's sad selfish game. I do think it's funny how Dobe fans go to a Dobe Haters blog to defend their idol/master.

Yes, and you know a lot more about Hollywood celebrities than I do. So what if Kobe wasn't booed at the All Star game. He was booed at every Lakers away game that I saw (and that's a good 90% of away games that the Lakers played this year).

I was saying that people don't buy tickets to boo players from their home team. For, example, lets say, someone who lives in Houston who hates Yao, is not going to pay $200/ticket to go boo Yao. It's safe to say that most people who went to the Staples Center (where tickets are outrageously expensive) this year are Kobe fans, as opposed to just Laker fans. That makes perfect sense.

And, no, it's not we. It's obvious that it's just you. Maybe that's why you keep posting anon, b/c you want people to think that there are like 100 people defending Kobe, when, in reality, it's just you.

"i want the lakers to win and mostly, the only way for that to happen is for kobe to shoot. its the only way and thays why they havent changed their game plan for the season."

Are you serious? dude, the Lakers have become what they've become (i.e. a lottery team, and 1st round loser) b/c of precisely that! (i.e. Dobe shooting like there's no tomorrow). Most people that are not Dobe fans agree with that. And actually, you're wrong, the Lakers did change their game plan against the Suns. Remember? the media kept talking about how Dobe was no longer playing "1 on 5" and that he was playing teamball. Jackson was somehow (after 10 years) able to convince Dobe that 1 on 5 ball and shooting 33 shots per game was not working, and that he had to pass the ball. They did that, and they were able to extend the series to 7 games. What more proof do you want that having Dobe shoot all the time does not work, specially when he takes such dumb-ass shots. Dobe has made the Lakers very predictable, which in turn causes him to get double & trippled. And honestly, it seems like he gets-off on being tripled-teamed so he can make ESPN's highlights whenever he hits a shot on 3 guys, or whenever he takes a 30 footer when you only need 1 point to win.

You can argue that he does not have the right players to win, but whose fault is that? he had decent players before but he wasn't happy until he got rid of anyone that threatened him, including Jackson. All that shooting has gotten Dobe to lead the Lakers to the lottery. If you're a true Lakers fan you would be furious at Dobe, but of course, you'll just defend that fact that he led them to the lottery.

In Dobe's 2nd season w/o Shaq, Buss had get Jackson to save Dobe's ass. Read Jackson's book and you'll see that we're right on target. Or just look at the Lakers after Shaq and Jackson left. Either way, it does not look good for Captain 1 on 5.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

and also, look at it this way, at least the lakers arent like the bulls now a days. at least they arent like the celtics.

10:15 PM

Blogger TeamPlayer said...

Actually, there are a lot of other teams who have rebuilt just as well or better than the Lakers:

1) The Bulls, actually, went from being 29-53 two years ago to making it to the first round of the playoffs for 2 years. And that's a very young team with lots of potential.

2) The Suns have done even better: same record as the Bulls, 29-53 two years ago. Made it to the Western Conference Finals two years in a row.

3) Now look at the Miami Heat. 25-57 three years ago. 42-40 two years ago. Made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. Are in the NBA finals this year with the chance to win the title.

Besides that, the point it that the Lakers didn't HAVE to rebuild the way they did. They had 2 stars who, despite whatever issues personal issues, worked well enough together to win 3 titles. They could've won another couple of titles if Kobe could put aside his ego and put his team's well being first.

There was nothing wrong with the Lakers after the 2003-04 season. They made to it to the NBA finals. Did they break up the Pistons last year after they lost to the Spurs? No. Are they going to break them up this year after they failed to make it to the NBA finals? Very unlikely.

Of course there's no "in your face" evidence that Kobe broke up the team. What do you expect, to hear Kobe say "I broke up the team?" "I chased away Shaq, Jackson, Fisher, Payton, etc."? Of course not. But everything else he says and does points to that fact.

Kobe hasn't skipped a beat in heralding himself as the leader of the team after Shaq left. You can hear it in his interviews - "my team," "I'm the leader," "I'm the veteran," etc. You can see it on the court - he patronizes the other guys, chewes them out when they do something he's unhappy about, he acts like he, not Phil Jackson, runs the team.

And, in addition, we have everyone else, including Phil Jackson - who I think I'll trust since he was right in the middle of the whole thing - corroborating that same story.

Why should I believe anything else?

yes u are correct, but ur missing one thing. those teams blockbuster stars to player for them. who did the lakers get, kwame and smush.

11:41 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

I expect you guys to step up and come correct. Kobe didn't break up the team, it was Jerry Buss who ordered Mitch to trade Shmuq, sign Kobe and negotiate a deal with Rudy T. It was Mitch's responsibility to trade for the right players in return. I firmly believe that Jerry Buss gave every opportunity to Riles because of their friendship. Riles on the other hand didn't want to trade Dwyane to the Lakers and you can see why. Shwyane and Shmuq are the closest to Kobe and Shaq in the 3 peat era Lakers and Riles knew that. Shmuq knew that as well and decided to get in shape. All in all they all had a hand in this mess. Kobe and the Lakers have to start all over, Miami still has to win a title and whether they do or not, Miami will soon fall too. Shmuq will start to gain weight again, he will no longer be the same player and will retire in 2 years and all of a sudden a new rookie(s) centers will emerge to stardom. It always happens. It is called the cycle of life. It happens in the NBA too. From Wilt, to Kareem to Shaq to the future.

In 5 years I will understand (something)?" how do you want me to respond to that, hmm, oh I know, 'grow up dude, in 5 years you will look back at what a lame blog you created.' Please, don't take your blog so seriously. There is more to life than a blog. Take care of yourself, family and friends. Chill and have fun. Ha ha ha. I love it too.

Right. Just like Riss. Haven't you read her profile? My guess is that you haven't or otherwise you would know that she likes to smack on others too. She even gets it. By her profile she is a fun person to be around with and who doesn't like tequila shots. My fave is Cuervo Gold. By the way YOU respond you must have a hectic job and take your anger out on bloggers to your own blog. Have a tequila shot instead.

I can just imagine had Kobe had the chance to play the Mavs in the playoffs. Kobe would have gone off way more than Shywane has against the Mavs defence. We all know that the Mavs are the team to beat in the West so the Lakers must set their goal to seed better next season and go up against the Mavs in the playoffs and see what Kobe would do against these Mavs.

11:39 PM

Blogger TeamPlayer said...

But the whole point is that Kobe DOESN'T have a chance to go up against the Mavs.

There's a reason D-Wade is in the finals and Kobe's not: D-Wade is a smarter, more mature player who knows how to shine while also making his teammates better.

Kobe and the Lakers will never go anywhere unless he turns around his game and his attitude, and given that he hasn't changed in his 10 years in the league, that's not likely to happen.

u forgot the playoffs. he changed his game.. didnt he? maybe not that much but that did prove that he could make his teamates better.

CAMON u cant disagree with this. its totally true.

Don't worry guys, I'm not bothered by his comments and not insecure enough to think anything he says holds any merit. He's a Kobe fan after all. (And obviously compensating for something.)

I worked for the NBA for three years. I came across Kobe in a professional setting several times. So I actually have a basis for my dislike. I seriously doubt the anonymous pussy has any type of solid foundation for his rather pathetic display of hero worship.

And I forgot to mention, that I don't want to be lumped in with anyone else simply because I can take it and dish it out. I disagree with people, but don't insult them on their blogs. It's rude. I wasn't raised by wolves.

riss it was only him that insulted u...

yes, he did quit on his team. and that was pussy of him. i admit that. but yes i think he should have lied. what do u expect him to say, "well yes i got pissed off my teamates werent doing crap so i quit on my teamates." well yes anyways, but i think he stuck with the game plan on game 5 too. im not sure but i dont think he took that much shot he usually does. but he did take good shots in game 6 so i cant really say that he screwed up.

i really do believe that he had a reason to be upset. kwame basically buttered his fingers. smush couldnt gain confidence. its not really his fault smush sucked. jordan couldnt make him better in any ways. lamar and luke were the only one that did some work.

Hee I assume that's the "real" anonymous of the thousand posts talking versus the fake one.

Personal stuff aside (meaning anything I've witnessed from working at the league) my main problem with Kobe is the fact that I he believes more in personal numbers versus overall team gain.

It was a bit hard cheering for the Heat (as someone from NY) but yeah, go Miami :)

great now u insult me.. i get it. by the way, whats the ppoint if you already know who i am.

man shaq admitted it was his fault with his beef with kobe by saying he didnt embrace him enough when they were teamates. he said he didnt want to make the mistake with wade.

i thought he was ganna rub it on the lakers.

by the way riss, ur from ny? so ur a knicks fan. damn i feel bad for u

BTW-can someone tell me what year Tony Parker was drafted by SA Spurs. I thought it was 2004 and wasn't it the same year as Dwyane Wade? Just asking because Wade said he wanted to be the first in his draft class to win a title, but Darko won his rookie year (2004) and Tony Parker won last year (2005). Let me know.

1:49 AM

Blogger TeamPlayer said...

Tony Parker was drafted in 2001. Wade was drafted in 2003. So he is the first in his class to win.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Thanks for the info on Tony Parker, but Darko was drafted the same year as Wade and he got a ring in 2004 with the Pistons thus making him the first in the draft class to win a ring.

2:22 AM

Blogger TeamPlayer said...

Hehe, exactly. When Wade was talking about his "class", I think he meant LeBron and 'Melo, not Darko.

11:02 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Still, Darko was drafted top 5 and won a ring. It is fact. It is not Darko's fault that he was drafted by the Pistons and then win the finals. But just think, DWade could of been a Piston and won in his rookie year as well.As for Mark Madsen, he was not drafted top 5.

shaq gets his 4th ring and kobe his 2nd straight fishing season (blowing a 3-1 lead in the process and with a severe quitting session included)

shaq is the greatest of the both.

One is a center and Kobe is guard. You can't compare both positions, unless it Magic Johnson who played center as rookie vs. Philly in the finals.
