One Game Don't Change a Thing

The Lakers played superb basketball on Wednesday night. No question. We saw something we really hadn't seen all season - a real team working together to take every ounce of the game out of the Suns. The Lakers played great D, were consistent on the offensive end, and stuck to Phil Jackson's game plan for most of the game.

Can this keep this up for Games 3 and 4? We'll see. I'd love to see Lamar continue to step up (the man has been shooting 60% for the last 2 games!), Kwame to play like the big man that he is, and Sasha Vujacic to continue hitting the 3s like he's unconscious.

At the same time, the Suns must be furious with their performance, and are very likely to come back with a vengeance.

The one person Nash and the gang don't need to fear? Kobe. As always, everyone acts like Kobe did such an amazing thing by playing more or less unselfishly for one game. It's like a C student getting one A every couple of months. Doesn't make him an A student, just a C+ student on average. Chances are, Kobe will go back to his old self eventually. However, even if Kobe plays in Game 3 the way he played in Game 2, that will not be a deciding factor. The reason the Lakers won Game 2 is their amazing defense and Lamar's dominance. That's what the Suns will fear most.

I like the analogy, great point. The lakers would be a much better team without kobe. All the lakers really need is phil jackson, he can win without a superstar, but can't win a championship without a superstar. If phil had lebron they would be a contender right now!!!Last year I was hoping phil would go to the cavs, but of course he went back to the lakers b/c his is severly pussy whipped by jerry buss' daughter. By the way she is a looker.

And Lebron isn't clutch?!!! Proved critics wrong in regular season, now in playoffs, Lebron is the real deal. Forget kobe, the league should embrace lebron as their savior.

Yeap, Lebron at 21 is 1,000 times better than Kobe at 28. Imagine if you were to compare Kobe at 21 Vs. Lebron at 21? NO CONTEST.

Suns are tentative for a some reason, and kobe has nothing to do with it. In fact he has nothing to do with the lakers victories, its been all lamar and the other so-called crappy players the media called them as a reason for kobe taking so many shots. I've always said this and will continue to say this, the lakers don't need kobe, all they need is phil jackson and your a guarenteed playoff team. Jordan at least made the playoffs without phil in the first four years of his career without phil. Kobe shot 18 shots, while scoring 17 pts. That does not help the team, granted he got 7 assists, but had he passed on all the stupid shots and given some else a shot perhaps the lakers would of won by more. Kobe is more like carmelo anthony, just stands on the perimeter, waits for the pass, takes a few worthless dribbles, one to many pump fakes and then shoots whether or not he is doubled or even tripled team. And what happened when kobe drove in to get a layup, he blew it. Jordan was too fundementally sound to blow a layup like kobe does.

after game 4, can you really say kobe has nothing to do with Laker victories?

Dude, are you kidding? or are you as BLIND as a bat?. The Lakers are up 3 to 1 b/c Kobe is NOT playing Kobe-Ball (i.e. playing 1 on 5).

The fact that the Lakers are winning is clear and convincing evidence that Kobe has been doing it ALL wrong for the past 9 years of his so-called NBA career.

I am really happy with the start of the season; the Lakers have been a pleasant surprise this year. They have managed to put the Kobe trade drama behind them and focus on playing basketball, by the way I think he is staying with the Lakers the book I bet with NBA Lines has the odds oh him leaving at 20/1 so about a 4% chance of him leaving, hope they are right and he sticks around long enough for other players to evolve and have a shot at a championship
